‘Twas the week before Christmas, when at Churchill Park,
The JEDCO employees were still meeting benchmarks.
It had been a banner year for the small, dedicated team,
Economic wins and initiatives had earned JEDCO great esteem.
They financed many projects, 23 to be clear,
Spreading wealth, investment, and plenty of cheer.
Small companies used the loans to grow and expand,
Building up new facilities and spreading their brands.
JEDCO staff met with business owners from across the Parish,
Establishing relationships all would come to cherish.
They identified new sites and ran reports of all sorts,
Hosted educational events and offered start-up support.
Each night when the team went home to their beds,
Visions of incentives danced in their heads.
They dreamed of new prospects and business attraction,
Their reveries set off a chain reaction.
They welcomed businesses of all sizes and shapes,
And launched new programs to improve the landscape.
District Donuts Sliders and Brew said “yes” to JP,
And Sleep Number beds found the climate cozy.
The one billion dollar brand went on a hiring spree,
And gave jobs to our residents, over 170.
At the Avondale Shipyard, talks of new business advance,
A purchaser is interested, giving the asset a second chance.
JEDCO continues to keep the project in its sights,
To ensure the new dealings will turn out just right.
What a year it has been, what a joy to thrive,
The Jefferson Parish economy is well and alive!
With all of this progress, 2018 looks shiny and bright,
Happy Holidays to all….and, to all, an international flight!
