This week on the Jefferson Parish Pulse, we feature an interview with Leigh D’Angelo, co-founder and CEO of Dig – The Dog Person’s Dating App and newly-launched Tabby – The Cat Person’s Dating App.
Leigh co-founded the dating app for dog lovers with her sister, Casey, a few years ago. In 2018, she competed in the JEDCO Challenge powered by Greater Lakeside Corporation, a pitch competition for startup companies with ties to Jefferson Parish. Since then, the Gretna-based company has experienced tremendous growth. Dig has won major competitions and grants to bring the business to the next level. The tech company won a grant through The Million Dollar Dating Project and took home first place in a marketing competition at the inaugural Pet Care Innovation Summit powered by Purina – just to name a few.
Dig currently serves about 200,000 dog lovers who are trying to find partners through the pup-positive app. It has been so successful that the co-founding sisters decided to launch a dating app for cat people, too. Both Dig and Tabby are now global businesses and they’re being run from right here in Jefferson Parish.
On this episode, Leigh talked about what it’s like to grow a business in Jefferson Parish, dating in the time of COVID-19 and being a part of the multi-billion dollar pet industry. It was a paws-itively illuminating conversation.
