On this episode of the Jefferson Parish Pulse, we continue with our focus on small local businesses. As part of the Spend Local JP initiative, JEDCO is dedicated to featuring homegrown Jefferson Parish businesses on this show. What is more homegrown than a startup donut shop that opened it’s doors for the first time in the midst of a pandemic?
We interviewed Joshua Dean, founder of Little J’s Donuts N More, a new business based in Harahan. Joshua spent the last 26 years working at donut businesses for other people, but he always wanted to be his own boss. He came to JEDCO with a dream of owning his own donut shop and our finance team brought that dream to life. JEDCO funded nearly 90% of the project. Joshua named the shop after his son, Jacen, and held a soft opening in April. Next week, he will celebrate the official grand opening of the business alongside JEDCO and local elected officials.
On this episode, we talked about opening a business during the pandemic, the importance of community support, advice for entrepreneurs and what it’s like to get a loan with JEDCO.
