This week on the Jefferson Parish Pulse, we interview Teresa Lawrence. Teresa is the owner and CEO of Delta Personnel, a Metairie-based staffing agency.
Delta Personnel has been around sinec the late 1960s. When Teresa took over from her father-in-law in the 80s, she helped to build the brand around integrity, trust, reliability, accuracy, quality services and investment in her employees. Delta Personnel has been recognized for its incredible company culture and focus on health and wellness over the years.
Under Teresa’s ownership, Delta Personnel has gained national recognition in the staffing industry. The business has been featured on the Inc. 5,000 list of Fastest Growing Companies and has won numerous awards from organizations around the community and beyond.

Teresa Lawrence is a Cuban-born entrepreneur who came to the United States in 1973 under President Nixon’s “Freedom Flight.” It was this pursuit of freedom, mingled with sheer uncertainty, that inspired Teresa to dedicate her life to helping people find jobs, obtain financial stability and support their families. Under her ownership, Delta Personnel has gained national recognition in the staffing industry. Teresa currently serves on the following Board of Directors: WBEC South’s Board of Directors as Regional Director for New Orleans, Jefferson Economic Development Board, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson Parish Workforce Development Council. Teresa is very active in the development of the local New Orleans Economy. Committed to her community, Teresa actively works with New Orleans Catholic Charities and continues to promote opportunities to immigrants with legal work status in the United States so that all workers have the opportunity to join the workforce at a fair wage. “I want my staff to be reflective of my belief in diversity and inclusiveness.”
Some recent awards include: Women Business Enterprise Top CEO, Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies, HCCLA Excellence Award for Small Business Leadership, Red Cross Power of Women Award, Temporary Services Insurance Award of Honor for Zero insurance claims in five years, WBENC Business Star Award, Jefferson Chamber’s Women Owned Business of the Year Award and Enterprising Women of The Year Award.

She also shares her thoughts about the value of a strong company culture, her best advice for entrepreneurs and how the pandemic impacted her staffing agency.
