JEFFERSON PARISH, La) – The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) joined state, regional, and local leaders to celebrate the grand opening of an expansive new headquarters for one of the fastest-growing businesses in the Southeast on Thursday. RNGD (pronounced renegade), a leader in commercial construction and design, invested $25 million to consolidate its Southeast Region campus in Jefferson Parish. The project is expected to create 130 new jobs and retain 265 existing jobs in the area.
Home to RNGD’s regional corporate headquarters, training center, and construction and manufacturing operations, the redeveloped 8-acre campus combines a 30,000-square-foot office building, a 25,000-square-foot training center, an expanded 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, a 10,000-square-foot tool and logistics warehouse and a 5,000-square-foot mechanic shop. A 6-acre adjacent property will function as a construction laydown yard for storing heavy equipment and supplies, as well as provide space for future expansion.
The entire 14-acre campus, which comprises 150,000 square feet of buildings, will serve as home base for RNGD’s 265 Greater New Orleans-based employees and accommodate future growth of the quickly expanding business. Renegade Academy—RNGD’s award-winning professional development program—will also operate out of the onsite training center, which will also offer educational programming to serve individuals and organizations across the local construction workforce. The company’s expanded onsite manufacturing facility will support RNGD’s growing team that specializes in steel fabrication and erection, as well as standard prefabricated elements for construction projects at every scale.
“As we expand our commitment to the city, state and region, we’re excited to bring together our entire New Orleans team on the same connected campus,” said RNGD Founder and CEO Wesley J. Palmisano. “Because the development enables cross-functional collaboration among RNGD teams, it will accelerate our mission to innovate and move the construction industry forward.”
To support the expansion project in Jefferson Parish, JEDCO negotiated a PILOT to offset development costs and worked closely with the Jefferson Parish Council to develop an incentive package through available discretionary funds. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) also offered the company a competitive incentives package.
“This project represents substantial economic development advancement for JEDCO and Jefferson Parish,” said JEDCO President and CEO Jerry Bologna. “RNGD’s decision to centralize their operations in Jefferson Parish sends a strong message that this community is ideally positioned to support significant business growth. We are especially excited about the development of Renegade Academy, a regional asset that will bolster workforce development initiatives and create new opportunities for our residents. We remain committed to supporting RNGD’s expanding footprint here in Jefferson Parish.”
“It is an honor to celebrate this next step in RNGD’s expansion plans here in Jefferson Parish,” said Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng. “This visionary project will serve as a catalyst for job creation and economic impact across the region. We thank RNGD for their continued investment and look forward to a long partnership with RNGD as this award-winning business continues to grow here in JP.”
“We are honored that RNGD chose Jefferson Parish as the homebase for its robust expansion plans,” said District 2 Councilman Deano Bonano. “This company has a long history of success in our region and beyond. I am proud that the Jefferson Parish Council was able to provide competitive incentives offerings to offer the best possible solution for this iconic company.”
RNGD managed the design and construction of the entire redevelopment, leveraging its in-house expertise in commercial, heavy civil and infrastructure construction; steel fabrication and erection; and the manufacture of standard prefabricated elements. New Orleans-based EskewDumezRipple served as architect of all project elements. The new RNGD campus is located at 1450 L&A Road, Metairie, LA 70001.
