Airport Buyout Properties: Jan 2017

Laketown

31 bundles of vacant land adjacent to Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner, LA, were auctioned on January 29, 2016, by the City of New Orleans and the New Orleans Aviation Board. Not all of the bundles were sold; a subsequent auction of remaining bundles, totaling approximately 28 acres, will be auctioned in early 2017.Parcels are auctioned in groups of larger “bundles” to enable mid- to large-scale development opportunities. More information about each of these 31 bundles, including legal land descriptions, maps, height restrictions, and minimum bid information, can be found on the City of New Orleans’ surplus property webpage: https://www.nola.gov/city-surplus-real-estate-auctions/airport-noise-property/.

Through the auction, these Airport “buyout properties”—acquired in the 1980s and 1990s through a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) residential noise mitigation program are strictly for non-residential uses, in accordance with FAA requirements. The parcels of land to be sold are located both east of the Airport Access Road and south of Airline Drive. A map of these parcels can be found below and downloaded here.
